Altstadt von Bacharach und der Rhein

The region, characterized by steep slopes, is a diverse landscape, thanks to the numerous castles, the unmistakable Riesling and the varied hiking routes with views of the Rhine. The Rhenish Slate Mountains have been the epitome of the romantic Rhine landscape since the 19th century, and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 — last but not least, the Middle Rhine wine region also has ideal conditions for winegrowing.

Slate
steep slopes

The landscape and especially the soil are marked by slate and rock, which particularly benefits Riesling from steep slopes of its elegance.

Although the wine-growing area is rather small and the harvest quantities are also low, this makes Riesling from the Middle Rhine a particular treasure: wines that stand out with an unmistakable style.

The goal that we at Weingut Bär have set ourselves is to live out our fascination and passion for Riesling with the greatest respect for nature, to tell and continue the history of the Middle Rhine wine-growing region as authentically as possible.

BUGA 2029

The Federal Garden Show 2029 is a summer festival in the World Heritage region on the Middle Rhine, which opens in 2029. A lagoon is to be built on the banks of the Rhine in Bacharach. Large stones in the Rhine are planned for this purpose, which you can walk over. Seating with a view of the island of Heylesen Werth, which we manage, is also provided. Part of the shore is also to be converted into a floodplain landscape and planted close to nature. In the southern part of Bacharach, there will be a beach where there will be swimming opportunities. Bacharach is being further developed by BUGA 2029 for the next generations.
