2022 Bacharach Riesling Old Vines

The old vines above Bacharach define this 2022 Riesling. It pours from the glass a cool, clear and light yellow. The nose opens with a delicate, reductive smokiness reminiscent of wet slate and characteristic of the steep Mittelrhein sites. Given a bit of air, the wine reveals yellow fruits: yellow apple, peach, and stone fruit, as well as floral top notes suggestive of orange blossoms. Juicy fruit and warm smoke in the background lend it sublime depth.

On the palate, the wine is juicy and precise, with weightless fruit reflecting the warm vintage. Pink grapefruit provides a fresh counterpoint, with a fine phenolic and striking grip and structure. The texture is creamy, yet taut, carried into a long finish by the dark, spicy minerality of the slate soils.

A Riesling that shows its origins with quiet confidence, as befits deep fried dishes such as Backhendl or schnitzel as well as roast vegetables such as porcini with tarragon mayo.

Ortswein Orion

2021 OR!ON

"Orion" shines bright and clear in the glass. An initial, delicate reduction on the nose soon gives way to aromas of green apple, pear, apple blossom, and the gentle, stony nuance of a peach pit.

On the palate, the wine is crystalline and precise, with an austere, focused fruit. A sinewy acidity is supported by a structure both linear and fine. A centered, refreshing Riesling that draws its contours from its own natural character.

A wine for honest, everyday fare and life's lively moments.

Lagewein Heylesen Werth

2021 HEYLESEN WERTH

Heylesen Werth is a monopole situated on a small island in the Rhine. Slate soils topped with sand drive the wine’s bright character and clear juiciness. Ripe apricot, peach, and red apple open the nose, accented by almonds, delicate bitter orange peel, and a frame of soft smoke.

At first sip, the wine is juicy and generous, with a creamy texture and off dry, structuring phenolic. A clear arc of acidity spans the palate. Its quiet flow and moderate concentration create appealing length, mineral momentum and a cooling finish.

A friendly, warm-hearted Riesling to pair with light vegetable and fish dishes.

2022 HEYLESEN WERTH

Heylesen Werth is a monopole situated on a small island in the Rhine. Slate soils topped with sand drive the wine’s bright character and clear juiciness. Luminous yellow in the glass with tender green hues. The nose opens with a gentle smokiness, complemented by peach, red apple, and pink grapefruit. Centered and precisely structured.

Juicy and approachable with ripe, big-hearted fruit and gently integrated acidity that imbues length and structure. A delicate, off-dry palate is defined by subtle phenolics and taut contours, seemingly etched with the finest of strokes.

A friendly and approachable Riesling to pair with cuisine featuring citrus, fennel, light fishes, and herbs.

Lagewein Steeger St. Jost

2021 ST. JOST

St. Jost is rooted in sparse slate high above the Steeger Valley, contributing to the wine’s clear, stony tension. Light yellow in the glass, the nose opens with pear, yellow peach, quince, and elegant, reductive notes that deliver a subtle smokiness.

On the palate it is slender, pale, and precise, with a vibrating, sinewy acidity that imparts a fine, glistening length. Defined by a chalky texture and racy structure, it cuts a striking figure from the first sip, flowing with cool precision into an ethereal finale.

A precise wine with a solid backbone and a tender, quiet expression.
A delicious companion to refined pleasures, such as sashimi, oysters, and vegetable in the finest of olive oil.

2022 ST. JOST

St. Jost is rooted in sparse slate high above the Steeger Valley, which contributes to the wine’s clear, mineral tension. Even in warmer years, its taut, stony character shines through. The nose is reminiscent of waxy yellow apples, elderberry blossoms, and a whiff of roasted almonds, flowing together into a quiet yet distinctly grounded impression.

On the palate, the wine is concentrated, juicy and dense. Its gentle, fruit-driven core is framed by a clear and ripe acidity. The texture is generous yet well-defined, where delicate phenolics provide focused structure and harmony.

Pairs well with scalloppine al limone, white asparagus with chervil-lime butter, or dumplings in a light sauce.

Lagewein Bacharacher Wolfshöhle

2021 WOLFSHÖHLE

The Wolfshöhle lies atop deep, dark slate, lending the wine power and saline tension. The nose presents ripe apple, citrus, and a breath of marshmallow below tender reductive notes.

The phenolic structure stands out at first sip, creating a vibrant, focused and stony character. Driven by a spicy, clear acid nerve, it presents precise contours on the palate, with good density and a tender creaminess. A powerful yet reserved wine concluding with a good momentum and an appealing finish.

Pairs well with bitter salads featuring citrus, fish, or fennel, or braised pork shoulder.

2022 WOLFSHÖHLE

The Wolfshöhle lies atop deep, dark slate, lending the wine power and saline tension. Even in warmer years, its slatey origins are perceptible and distinct. The nose reveals quince, yellow apple, dried fruit, and the delicate spice of mace and cardamom.

The first sip is shaped by tender fruit and rich extract, framed by fine spice wrapped in a ripe, round acidity. The generous palate reveals ripe, satiating fruit with an approachable character. Juicy and driven on the lingering finish.

Recommended alongside pork with dried fruit, eel with baked plum, or beet carpaccio with goat cheese.

Lagewein Posten

2021 POSTEN

With a gradient of up to 70%, Posten ranks among the Middle Rhine’s steep slopes. South-southeast facing vines on Hunsrück slate drive the wine's clear, citrus tension. Lemon and apple define the nose, accented by subtle tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple.

The initial impression is racy, linear and focused with clear contours, piquant acidity, and a taut, off-dry grip.  This is a wine of tremendous tension — driven and focused — that vibrates along a long, endless and cool stony finish.

Wonderful paired to shrimp with pineapple carpaccio, lemon rice with herbs, or chicken with Moroccan preserved lemons.

2022 POSTEN

With a gradient of up to 70%, Posten ranks among the Middle Rhine’s steep slopes. South-southeast facing vines on Hunsrück slate drive the wine's clear, citrus tension. Floral top notes open the nose, mingling with smoky lemon and delicate mace.

On the palate, it shines with juicy, generous, and concentrated fruit underpinned by a well-integrated acidity. Generous contours of ripe fruit are framed by a gentle, slightly herbal phenolics. It moves with confidence and calm into a lingering, defined finish.

A good choice for rabbit with sage and apricots, trout wrapped in bacon, or celery puree with spiced honey cake gremolata.

2022 RIESLING SPARKLING WINE

A fine, even bead flows through this bright yellow sparkler into the glass. The nose is sketched by an abundance of ripe yellow stone fruit, soft apples, and lemon zest, alongside subtle brioche notes.

The first sip strikes clear and fresh with a lively mousse that enhances the youthful juiciness. Ripe acidity lends a vertical character, while reserved, off-dry phenolics provide an animating, textural grip. The delicate citrus character is clean and fresh, with an enduring stony finish.

An ideal aperitif for any occasion.

2022 Pinot Rosé Sparkling Wine

In shades of dusty rose, this rich sparkling wine delivers a fine, constant bead, alongside a bouquet of raspberries and wild strawberries accented by floral top notes of hibiscus and mallow. The delicate linear aromatics reveal subtle and gentle fruit.

With a fine mousse on the attack, it offers animating freshness with transparent fruit and a sophisticated acid nerve. Its light, savory structure anchors the wine in the dry range, imparting a fine red fruit elegance and tender creaminess throughout a long, well-defined finish.

An accessible rosé sekt, ideal as an aperitif, paired with berry salads, cold starters, or simply enjoyed with good friends.
